Hope And Fear

Updated: Mar 10, 2022

Our news: February 27, 2022, 12:15 AM Kyiv time

"We are still alive. Thanks to the valiant Ukrainian military and your prayers, we are still relatively safe.

It is a pleasure to read all your wishes. It is very valuable to me and gives strength. I am very grateful to each of you. I'm sorry that I can't reply to all comments and messages, but I'm trying to do it.

The situation in Kyiv is becoming more and more alarming. There is a constant risk that a rocket, a bomb or a downed plane or drone will hit the house. Last night was especially tense. The city authorities reported in the official telegram channel that from 20:00 until the morning of February 27, it is planned to capture and bombard (or massively shell) Kyiv. All residents are urged to spend the night in a bomb shelter and stay awake.

We fulfilled this condition and until 11:30 on the morning of February 27 we spent in a bomb shelter. Gave Roxy highly concentrated chamomile tea, covered the carrier with a blanket. I was holding on to stay awake, but it's already getting difficult, as this is the third night without sleep. Today Roxy is very calm now and it even scares me. She doesn't make a sound. He just sits and does not even eat or drink anything.

Today at noon, February 27, I returned to my house and we are now there until the next air raid alert. I need to let Roxy out for a walk, cook her porridge and recharge her phone.

Unfortunately, I am not sure that we are receiving truthful information about what is happening around Kyiv and in the city itself. We are told that there are many Russian sabotage groups operating in the city. There is now a curfew and you can not leave the house at all. All shops and other establishments are closed.

About me: I had my third booster dose of Moderna vaccine on the evening of February 22nd and am not very well. Therefore, I practically cannot be more active, including helping my army. I have medicines, and we are also provided with food and water. I stocked up food for Roxy. In another area of the city, my elderly father, to whom I gave earlier my second parrot - African gray. Her name is Corry. "

"What will happen next: There is now a lot of information on the Internet that the Russians are planning to completely surround Kyiv and make a corridor for the civilian population to exit. This will be given 24 hours. After that, a firestorm will begin. So I started planning how to get Roxy and Corrie out.

Unfortunately, I don't have any reliable travel cages. There is only one plastic carrier for Roxy. For Corry, my father prepared a large paper box.

I ordered two such cells on Amazon two weeks ago, but now they will definitely not be delivered to Ukraine. I am thinking about how to buy or get such or similar cages so that I can transport my birds. How to solve the cage problem?

These are the cages I ordered earlier. I'm not sure what was the best option, but it seems to be better than the plastic carrier and box."
