Slow But Sure

Our news: June 13 - 26, 2022, Kyiv

SLOW BUT SURE

This time I decided to write a post with news in two weeks, since I had to devote one week to solving medical issues. There was no special news, however, after the slowdown and uncertainty, we again got the result. We finally got a big cage for Roxy. Now Roxy and Corrie will be able to have spacious cages that we can use in a new house in a safe place. This is very important, because we do not know how long we will have to wait until we can leave Ukraine. There are circumstances that do not allow all of us to leave.

One of the main obstacles is my lack of documents to leave Ukraine. I found another way to get such documents, but I have to wait. The first document (it is temporary) I received last Friday. Therefore, slowly but surely, we are fulfilling our plan.

The situation in Ukraine is not getting any better, as Russian troops are also slowly but surely seizing new parts of Ukrainian territory. Honestly, I don't see any positive changes at the front. The official mass media of Ukraine report only positive news, which is becoming less and less every day.

On Roxy's condition:

The bird has already fully adapted to the war. Today, when there was heavy shelling, my fluffy princess was practically not afraid and calmly played with new toys. She became alert only when she heard automatic bursts in the street. I don't know, but maybe the military shot at the saboteurs.

About the situation in Kyiv:

these two weeks were quite difficult, as there was much more shelling. People began to leave the city again, even those who had recently returned.

However, life in the city has become more active. There are even movie theaters. Last weekend my sister and I watched the new JURASSIC WORLD movie (I didn't like it). To be honest, I do not plan to go to the cinema yet, as it was very difficult to forget about the war and live in the illusions of a past happy and safe life. During the demonstration of the film, an air raid alert was announced 2 times and the demonstration was stopped. There were very few people in the cinema hall and foyer.

When visiting cinemas and other public places, we need to be very careful, as they can be taken to the military commissariat and sent to the front. There are military patrols on the streets. The atmosphere is very nervous, people are angry and upset. Everyone is very tired and emotionally exhausted. I don't know how we will survive another 10 years of this war, as military experts predict. We are holding on for now.

I’m very grateful for your support and your prayers and donations. Particularly important is the humanitarian aid that we once again received from our friends in Hungary. Thanks to the collected donations (many in this group helped), we received a large batch of food and toys for large parrots in Kyiv and other regions of Ukraine. Now I have a lot of work with sending parcels. We are all very grateful for this help. Sending love and hope to everyone. We stay connected. XOXO!

Best wishes,

Sergii & Roxy

I am glad that there are small elements of normality to be found although any relaxation to enjoy them must be fleeting and tinged with worry and sadness.

I hope your progess can speed up but it is good to read you have received the cages and supplies. Weeks must feel like months when you are waiting on such important paperwork and items.

Much love to you all.

It’s good to read your post as there are some positive aspects. I was concerned as we hadn’t heard from you for longer than usual and our news in the UK has focussed on the renewed shelling and missiles hitting residential buildings in Kyiv and killing or injuring poor innocent civilians. I pray every day for this evil to end as I’m sure you and millions of others around the world do. It’s also good to hear that Roxy is more settled and her large cage has arrived. I wish you a speedy resolution to your document issue and hope that you can all move to your safe house as soon as possible. Prayers and thoughts for you all.
