Our news: Wednesday, March 9 and Thursday, March 10, 2022, Kyiv, 14th and 15th day
GOOD LUCK AGAIN and I am generally lucky! First of all, I want to correct a little confusion with dates and events. Due to the time difference, some events are not taken into account in the post for the previous day, while others I describe even in advance, taking into account the communication in private messages. In this post, I combine the events of Wednesday and Thursday.
On Wednesday, I was very busy with a lot of questions. A lot of people began to contact me with the solution of various domestic and medical problems, and also clients on legal issues appeared again.
People got over the first shock and became more active. The war disrupted all logistics and communications. However, Kyiv has already begun to live a new military life. There are quite a lot of residents left in the city who do not want to leave and are establishing their lives in a new way.
Despite the snow and cold, spring is felt in the city. Today, Thursday, March 10, for the first time we saw the sun and blue sky. This is a good sign. The first two weeks of the war were overcast and gloomy. People began to go out, I just noticed parents with children near the house. No one is embarrassed that every half an hour they announce an air raid alert. We are used to and can enjoy every little thing. The Ukrainians cannot be defeated now. They calmed down, gathered themselves and are ready to win everywhere, not only at the front.
Yesterday, Wednesday, March 9, I had a conversation with several Russians who contacted me from Russia. They just live in a different reality and do not understand what is happening. I was especially struck by one of them, who simply shouted to me: “Why don’t Ukrainians give up?”. It turns out that many people in Russia think that Ukraine has simply lost its way and needs to be returned to Russia. They want to punish us like a naughty child, take away toys, and then she will ask for forgiveness and will continue to live in peace and love with Russia.
Putin thinks that we ourselves must agree to be punished: they divided the country into 3 parts, sent patriots and dissenters to camps, and also abandoned the army and gave up all their weapons. The Russian people like this idea and they mostly support Putin. This is such a strange war... It turns out that Putin is punishing us for wanting to be friends with the West and be a democratic, free country.
On the state of Kyiv:
The city has been completely rebuilt. Found new ways to solve everyday problems. Products can be found, obtained or exchanged.
Today I was once again convinced that it is the support, positive energy and prayers of kind people that do wonders. No money, parcels, etc. are needed. Another miracle happened today. In the morning I was going on a long hike for groceries. I dressed warmly, took a bag on wheels and bags for groceries. My neighbor said that for two days now they have been gathering in a caravan of several people and walking to the neighboring area for groceries.
People gather in groups and walk about 15 km. one way. In the neighboring area there is a large supermarket with a warehouse. There were food leftovers, including vegetables and fruits. People drag food on carts and sleds through the snow. We can still order a taxi around the city, but the fare is very high and you need cash. There is a shortage of gasoline in the city. Therefore, most call a taxi only in case of emergency.
While a group of neighbors were gathering near our entrance for groceries, I went further to a small store, which had been closed since February 24th. And here a miracle happened, the doors opened right in front of me and I became the first visitor to the "Aladdin's cave". I was able to get into the store, which still had the remnants of products that were not sold out on the first day of the war. Of course, the most scarce products (cereals, makogons, meat, milk, bread, etc.) were not there, but expensive products: salmon, seafood, chocolate, canned vegetables, jamon, French cheeses, expensive coffee, caviar remained.
Therefore, I managed to provide myself with delicacies for at least two months. And most importantly, I bought lettuce, oranges, apples and nuts for Roxy. I also found expensive Italian water and breakfast cereals. Now I have a good supply of food, and good food. As soon as I approached the checkout and even paid with a card, other people began to run into the store. There was a huge queue, a crush. At this time, I calmly emerged victorious and went home.
Only when I entered the entrance did I have a problem. My body is so weak that I went up to the third floor with these products for about forty minutes. It was hard to breathe and I took a lot of breaks. But in the end, I safely brought my prey to the apartment.
My neighbors were unlucky and went to a store in another area. For such shopping you need to spend more than 3 hours of time. I understand that I have become so lucky thanks to your prayers and support.
On Roxy's condition: Roxy spent all of yesterday in games and out of the cage. She did not interfere with me to receive calls and type text on the laptop. She spent the night in a cage. This morning she saw the bright sun and wanted to bathe. Because of the war, I completely forgot that Roxy needs a bath (Oh Roxy, I'm so sorry). She usually bathes in the bathroom sink. Then it dries for a long time. This procedure usually takes at least two hours. But today I planned shopping and didn't have that time. So I bathed her with a spray bottle and then dried it with a hair dryer. It is very cold in our apartment (+16 degrees Celsius). After bathing, Roxy was very pleased, she even sang. My Roxy imitates songbirds. I want to thank you all for your support and prayers.
IMPORTANT: I think there is no need to send any new parcels yet. Most likely, they simply will not reach me or they should be sent later. Yesterday I learned that all humanitarian aid is carefully checked and many types of food are simply confiscated at the border. Canned food is sent to the front by the military. Therefore, only bird food, carriers and small cages can be sent. Everything else will just disappear. Keep in touch. I love everyone and XoXo .
P.S. I read all your wishes and personal messages in the evening and at night. And I also ask you not to post my posts on my page. It might hurt me. I write very frankly.
A quote from my African Grey boy Bebe, "I want to give you a hug". And from my Umbrella Cockatoo, " Hi good boy, I love you". We read all of your posts and wish you peace and safety.
It is so good to wake up to a message from you. I was very worried. I am also so pleased that you have supplies. Try and build some strength up, I know that sounds stupid really, as you are at the fate of what each day brings and the countless hours you must spend to do basic things.
I am glad the beautiful Roxy had a bath. She is such a pretty bird and I am sure she was very grateful for this.
She sounds so understanding in that she lets you get on with your communications. What a wonderful soul.
My thoughts continue to be with you all.
I read of you and Roxy a few days ago and have been looking for any new news. I am so glad to hear that you have found food, water, and things are well. I am praying for you and all Ukranians and wish there was something more I could do, but I saw that parcels, other than bird stuff, wouldn't reach you. Stay strong and keep the news coming.
Roxy sure is beautiful and such a joy and comfort for you right now! I admire your strength and courage as well as the strength and courage of all Ukranians! Praying for you, Roxy and all Ukrainians!
