Spring is not in a hurry to come. After Easter (all these holidays have already passed), we so hoped that it would become warm. But this did not happen and we continue to take cover at home with warm blankets and rugs. It's still cold outside too.
Everything is going slowly and we are still staying in Kyiv. It is good that the city is relatively calm. The war is somewhere far away from us now. However, there is no security yet. Air raid alarms are activated every day.
On this Monday and Tuesday, the air raid alert was activated from 5 am.
So far, I continue to send and deliver humanitarian aid for the parrots of Kyiv. Tomorrow I have agreed to visit the zoo corner of the kindergarten. There are no children there, but there are many animals left, in particular birds. I will also be mailing food tomorrow for two African Grays and a cockatoo.
On Roxy's condition:
Hormones have made her behavior just awful. She screams almost the whole day, throws out the feeders, and shows aggression. Where did my furry angel go?
About the situation in Kyiv:
People are trying to organize a peaceful life. Stores that were previously closed are reopening, but it is quite difficult to buy many ordinary products and things. The range is still very limited.
Many residents of Kyiv are looking for work, but they simply do not have it, as well as money. Nobody knows how long the war will last. We have to hold on and hope for the best. Only this is now possible.
Many thanks to everyone for the support and prayers. We hold on and hope that soon our plan can be realized or there will be peace. Sending love and hope to everyone!
XoXo
Best wishes,
Sergii & Roxy
So sorry to hear about the poor animals left behind! I hope this conflict ends soon for the sake of animals and humans alike! My birds’ characters change when they are hormonal. I have been bitten in the past when I was less experienced and not aware of their body language. I hope you can carry out your plan for exit but in the meantime keep safe. Prayers and thoughts for you all.
I hope those poor birds can be rescued. They must be so lonely. I fear so much for them.
Thank you Sergii for undertaking organising and delivering aid to these, so often, forgotten victims.
I am sorry Roxy's hormones are causing so many issues especially at this time. It must be odd seeing such a sweet bird turn this way - hormones are a horrible thing.
Much love to you both.
That hormone business is awful. When my Umbrella first did it I thought she was sick. & arranged a visit with an avian vet. The closest one is 5 or 6 hours away. That morning she laid an egg but I took her anyway. He gave her a shot to stop it that was supposed to last at least 6 months but it didn’t work. I have just learned to live with it…it comes & goes. Honestly I hate to hear you say that all you & can do is try to wait out the war. I do not believe they have left, they are just busy elsewhere right now. The warhawks are planning on this continuing for a long…
