Our news: Thursday, March 17, 2022, Kyiv, day 22
WITHOUT POSITIVE I don't like the number "2". She brings me bad luck. This year is full of deuces and they bring misfortune. Today is the 22nd day of the war.
This day brought me a lot of terrible news. I'm sorry, but I can't give a positive today. In the morning there were no signs of trouble. Facebook reminded of a wonderful and bright holiday in French Polynesia 9 years ago. Having set myself in a positive mood, with the help of two volunteers, I organized the delivery of medicines and products around Kiev. We got through today even earlier than the day before yesterday. This allowed me to visit a few more stores to restock. There is almost nothing left in the shops.
Vendors put out a small amount of products on empty shelves in order to lie down for buyers. There is still time to grab something. I managed to get two packs of non-perishable milk, and there were 8 of them on the counter. I also took some ketchup and two bottles of water. That's pretty much everything you could get in this store. I had to stand in an Italian bakery for almost an hour to get a few baguettes. Today I managed to take 3 baguettes, although a few days ago they did not give more than 2 in one hand.
I also bought lemons, potatoes and beets. The vegetables are no longer fresh. The seller said that these were leftovers from the warehouse and in a few days there would be nothing left. People are very upset. Many beg for mercy, ask about cigarettes. A man approached me almost near the house and began to offer to carry my packages of groceries for 20 hryvnia (less than 60 US cents). I refused and said that I could handle it myself.
The first terrible news awaited me after returning home. One of the parrot owners, for whom I prepared a food kit, wrote that the African Gray Zorro died yesterday. He was very frightened by the heavy shelling and his heart probably stopped. She buried him today near the house. He's on the rainbow now. I just can't believe. I was supposed to go to them tomorrow...
The second news shocked me in the evening. I got a call from a friend of mine who lives in a village near the cottage town where the new house is located, which I bought last year and planned to move there in April of this year. He asked to urgently warn the inhabitants of our town so that they urgently ran away, as Russians, Kadyrovites, entered the village. They started robbing houses, raping women, and then they killed everyone, about 50 people. A friend said that only a few people were saved. Unfortunately, I was unable to warn anyone. None of my neighbors answered the phone. This village is only 100 meters from our cottage town. I failed again.
On the situation in Kyiv: An assault is coming, it’s better not to go outside at all. The mayor of the city urged everyone to come out to defend the city, but without weapons and skills, it looks just crazy. There is information that passes for trips between regions are being introduced the other day. My volunteers do not yet have a pass and perhaps soon we will not be able to carry anything by car.
On Roxy's condition: My princess was very nervous today and screamed a lot. Didn't want to go back to the cage after the walk. However, she ate with appetite and played with her ball. There are no other toys left.
About my condition: I felt better, but I still feel tired and weak. I plan to sleep more tomorrow.
Please continue to pray for us. Only a miracle will help us now. Remember us and appreciate what you have. I hope Europe will not suffer and preserve civilization. I send love to everyone! XoXo
Sergii, I hope you are okay. I know you must be so busy and extremely stressed. I hope we hear from you soon.
Someone just posted on Facebook about a fund being set up to help Sergii with travel
The link disappeared and it won't pop up again. Would someone be able to share that with me.
So sorry to hear about Zorro. You have great courage Sergei! I will be thinking of you and your beloved bird and praying for you. I own a Green Winged macaw, a Timneh African Grey and a Cockatiel. They are my children and my whole life. I can’t imagine the pain and fear that you must be having every day. I’m so sorry to hear about the village. I have donated to Ifaw to help the animals and I will also be donating what I can to the zoos. Please be safe and take good care. The world is watching and feels much sadness for all of you! Thank you for updating all of us. My biggest w…
Hi Sergii, I have been commenting but never have introduced myself. I live in Missouri USA with 1 skenderbill cockatoo (corella), a blue and gold macaw, and a keel bill toucan. I had a Moluccan cockatoo for 19 years. I loved her dearly but I lost her from cardiovascular disease in 2012. She had lead poisoning when she was 4 and we think it weakened her organs. I believe in the power of prayer. I pray for your and Ukraines safety and that a satisfactory resolution to this will come soon. The people of Ukraine are so lncrediibly loyal, determined. and patriotic. I highly respect the people of Ukraine. What social media has done is make the…
My heart is so broken. I pray for you and Roxy daily. May God keep you safe. I pray for safety and your needs are met. Oh how I wish we could help!
